Firefighters worked to extinguish a deliberate fire in Lichfield, this weekend.

Crews from Cannock, Penkridge, Rugeley, Lichfield and Tamworth attended a wildfire on Gentleshaw Common, in Burntwood, at 4.10pm on Sunday (27 March).

Crews used wildland firefighting equipment, including a light portable pump and a leaf blower to contain and extinguish the blaze at 5:40pm.

A thermal scan of the surrounding area was conducted in order to ensure the safety of the community.

No-one was injured.

The cause was later deemed deliberate and a police investigation is underway.

Crews ensured the area was safe before departing at 7.30pm.
