Crews attend fatal collision near Stone

Firefighters have attended a fatal collision near Stone.

Crews were called at 4.50pm on Sunday (16 January) to The Fillybrooks on the A34 near Stone, following reports of a two-vehicle crash.

Crews from Stafford and Stone attended along with the ambulance service, officers from Staffordshire Police and Highways.

Upon arrival, crews found a grey Ford Grand C-Max and a black Mercedes AMG A in collision.

Firefighters assisted the occupants of both vehicles, four out of five of whom were conveyed to hospital by the ambulance service.

Sadly, two people – a man and a woman in their 70s, who were travelling in the Ford, died in hospital in the early hours of Monday (17 January). A 17-year-old girl, who was in the vehicle, was uninjured.

Two others, a man and a woman, travelling in the Mercedes, sustained serious injuries and remain in a stable condition in hospital.

The incident has been left in the care of Staffordshire Police.
